W.I.N.G.S. (Women in Networking Growing Strong) is a unique Network/Mentoring concept that attracts caring women who appreciate the rewards and benefits of giving back, and women who value the wisdom of Mentors in order to gain the skills that will allow them to grow personally and professionally.
H.E.R.O.S. ~ (Helping Entrepreneurs Realize Opportunities Sensibly) ~ "Mentors in Motion" was founded by Yolanda Lamar-Wilder, visionary, mentor, business owner and award-winning advocate of small women-owned businesses.
With the growing number of women business owners throughout the City of Cleveland and surrounding areas, Ms. Lamar-Wilder recognized the need for a special kind of support. She believed that women would benefit from a comfortable, nurturing atmosphere where those who are new to entrepreneurship could learn from, and with, caring, knowledgeable business men who have walked the walk and can talked the talk.
It needed to be a safe atmosphere where they could feel comfortable asking for HELP, one of the greatest skills that an entrepreneur must learn. A place where they would be encouraged to articulate their goals and the strategies needed to achieve those goals. A place where they would receive positive reinforcement when they share their successes and victories as well as the challenges of starting and owning a business.
We have experienced some very exciting things in Women Entrepreneurs Of America, Inc. (WEA) meetings and the W.I.N.G.S. concept does works. What really is the success of W.I.N.G.S. are the fabulous women who co-ordinate and assist at the monthly meetings. It is their care and passion for helping women to achieve success that makes W.I.N.G.S. what it is.
Although W.I.N.G.S. and H.E.R.O.S. was initiated and nurtured by Ms. Lamar-Wilder, the inspiration to move forward with her vision came from (two) long-time friends and business colleagues – Mr. Charles Wilder, Jr. and Mr. Cortes Everett of D.V.M. ~Dreams, Visions and Mission.
